Rusty was adopted!

Update December 2010:

Ginny,

We adopted Rusty (now Rusti, more girlie)  in April 2010.   She has done great adjusting to a new home, but her first few weeks here were rough.  She chewed up many things but she finally settled in and now she follows her "sister" everywhere.   She is a very sweet and lovable dog, such a cuddler.  She has brought us a lot of happiness, we are very happy that we decided to adopt a second dog.   Thank you so much for everything.

Amy, Chris, Jules and Rusti

Pippy was adopted!

Update July 2010:

It's been a while but my husband and I adopted Pippy a Chocolate Lab (now known as Coco) back the middle of April.   She is doing wonderfully by the way and is the love of our life.  We still need to be careful when introducing her to other dogs.  Once she gets to know them she is usually good, however she still will lash out and become very aggressive is the slightest aggression is shown from the other animals.  We have completed one obedience class and are getting ready for a go at the Good K-9 Citizens award with the intent of going on to Paws for People and maybe some agility training, she seems to be very good at that.

Skittles was adopted!

Update June 2010:

Hi Ginny! Just wanted to provide our success stories. We adopted Bud & Skittles, now Luke &Leia. We are not huge Star Wars buffs but it just seemed to fit since they are brother and sister. They have been absolutely wonderful. We got them as puppies but they were completely house trained within a week! Luke is a slow, sweetheart. He's patient and polite. Leia is full of energy but LOVES to cuddle. We could not ask for two more perfect dogs. My husband, Drew, and I have different schedules so they get a lot of one on one time. I'm fully behind the notion that good dogs are exercised dogs. They get 3 walks a day and get to go to the dog park about twice a week. We had a fantastic time at the may day event and look forward to future events. Thanks again for everything, we are in love with them.

Spartacus was adopted!

Nora was adopted!

Update April 2010:

Hello Ginny,
Well, it's hard to believe that Belle (formally known as Nora) has been with us a little over a week.  She has settled in beautifully and is really showing her playful side now that she is just about fully recovered from her
spay surgery.  We are starting training classes on the 29th of April.  She is wonderful with my 4 year old, and is making strides cohabitating with our other dog, a much smaller cockapoo.   The only issue she is having now is food and water guarding with the other dog, not with my son and me.   Since arriving here, I've seen a lot of improvement with that.    Our vet said she looks like a shepherd/lab/rottweiler mix.  Apparently it's a great combination because she is a 55 pound love bug.  When my son hands her dog biscuits, she is very gentle with him.  Tomorrow night Belle has her sutures removed and gets a couple more shots.  This weekend, she is going to meet my brother's 5 year old yellow lab.
I thank you so much for finding this dog and giving her a second chance.
She has really added a lot to our lives!

Cindy

Update November 2010:

Hello Ginny,
The other night we took Belle to the vet because I noticed a hard knot on her upper inner thigh.  It appeared suddenly so I made an appointment with the vet.  Imagine my surprise when the vet removed a large BB from her.   She said this could have been floating around in her for a while, and moved to a place where we could feel it.  This must have happened when she was a puppy, prior to Paws for Life rescuing her.
When I think about Belle, and then saw Apollo’s sickly condition, it shows what a vital program you are running.   These poor animals do have a story to tell and a wonderful gift to give.
Thank you all for making it possible.

Cindy

Update April 2010:

Hi, I just wanted to say Thank-you. Lucky is so wonderful and he is such a great dog. I know with a little coaching he is going to be the best dog. He is better then I could have imagined. He loves his new bed and he sleeps with us and he is so happy. I just wanted to tell you and thank-you for such a wonderful dog. He was really worth the 5 hour drive. Thanks again and I will send some pictures. Thanks again, Jeff

Maddie was adopted!

Update April 2010:

Hi Ginny-

I wanted to give you a quick update on Maddie- the little golden retriever mix.  My mom (Betty Vahey) adopted her a few weeks ago.  Mom's not great with email, so I told her I would send you a note. We didn't get to meet you, Eric was there and helped us that day.

Maddie is settling in nicely.  She started training last week, even though she already knows the basics.   She follows my mom around all the time.  She sleeps in a crate at night (She is fine once she goes in but doesn't like going and has to be nudged or bribed.)

She is very laid back,  She likes her plush toys and carries them around the house.  She likes to go for walks and my mom LOVES showing her off to her neighbors and friends.

Thanks for all you do!
Maureen Vahey

Duchess was adopted!

Update April 2010:

She absolutely will not eat unless I give her some canned food.  I mix about 1 tbsp canned with 3/4 cup of dry so all the dry is coated and then she chows it right down.  Guess someone in the past has spoiled her!  But that's fine, I like to spoil my dogs too.  Don't worry about her getting overweight.  I am very careful about not overfeeding and she is getting lots of exercise.  She gets along great with my other dogs.  I am able to walk her & my Pitt mix, Max, together as they both walk so well on the leash.

She has settled right in and we all adore her - she is such a sweet dog.  We are calling her Shelby which she has already learned to come to.  Thanks so much for making it possible for us to have her.  Laurel

Update October 2012:

Hi Ginny,

Just wanted to send you some pics of my wonderful PFL pup, Shelby.  We adopted her on 3-28-2010.  She has been the most wonderful dog anyone could imagine.  We've been training agility for the past 1 1/2 years and just went to our first trial at Lums Pond on Oct 7.  Attached are some pics from that trial and also some from the agility demos yesterday at Fair Hill International.

I also just started doing Therapy Dog training with her with Paws for People.  She passed all of her STEX testing at the advanced level and also got her CGC.

As you can tell she is beautiful as well as smart and is happiest when she's doing anything with me.

Thanks for making it possible for us to have her.

Laurel & Rob
