Update October 2013:

Ginny:

Just wanted to email you with an update on Mercy.  She is loving her new home and new family and we love her right back!!  She is still getting adjusted but she is a very good girl!!!!  She loves to lay on the couch and look out the window and see what is going on.  She also loves to have her belly rubbed.  She has an appointment with your vet on October 10, 2013 for her last heartworm treatment.  We are thankful every day that she was brought to you and now she is with us!!

We will keep sending updates as time goes by.

Thanks Again!

Tyson was adopted!

Update September 2013:

Hi Ginny, We are all in love. He is the most curious, sweetest boy. He loves toys! Yesterday he was a little too overwhelmed to explore the dog toy baskets in both family and living rooms. Today the toys are strewn all over the house. :-) Janie, his youngest human sis, took him to explore the back field. On the way back he met the goats, Greggie the horse and the chickens. He was very well behaved will all of them.

Speaking of Raisin, this may sound nutty but Howard said it first and he's not usually the sappy one. He said that maybe the reason no one came to see Tyson was that maybe Raisin sent him to you for us, and we were just slow to know he had been sent for us. Stranger things have happened.

Can't get over how smart Tyson is. No swimming today despite the dogs' desire - too cold!

Thank you again.

Tyson is a remarkably smart and good dog. We cracked the potty training code yesterday. He is now comfortable enough to lie down and play and to sleep around the house. He is also comfortable in his crate when we have to leave him for short periods. He LOVES toys and we have plenty. HE has his very own snugle alligator that he carries everywhere. We invested in some new Kong stuffed toys to keep him busy and that will last longer than the standard fare. WE all adore him and he seems to love us. This am I woke to find him curled up beside me in bed sound asleep. :-) He is still enthralled with exploring the farm and loves his walks with Cam and whatever two humans are available. So glad he is in our lives.

Update October 2013:

Tyson is half asleep in this one but it shows his healing nose. He has gine from being unable to relax to flopping down w/ Cam and snuggling with him near me for hours . Tyson loves to take a shorter mid-afternoon walk w/ Cam and I to greet their human sister, Janie, as she gets off the school bus. Tyson preferred my husband and youngest at first but now loves us all. He loves toys! A new batch was just ordered this a.m. from Petsmart. I will hit Tractor Supply for some more Kong balls tbis weekend. They have the best price. The boys like a squeak in their balls. :-)

Update February 2014:

Dear Miss Ginny, I am a happy dog! I am I n mom and dad's bed with my Christmas toy mom scored for me  and Brother Cam at a bogo at the feed store yesterday. If you look closely you can see my new collar I got for Christmas.  It is mesh with reflective neon green ringing it. If it gets wet, it dries really fast and has a safety clasp. It is very lightweight and I look some kind of handsome in it.
Brother and I love each other very much. We got lots of treats and toys fir Christmas.  My favorite was the pig hoof but mom couldnt find any when she went to get our antlers and bully sticks yesterday.
Mom and Dad say I have grown. I have definitely filled out and Dad saysI  I am taller too. I love my people. I love all the kids that come to play here.  I am still learning not to jump on them but I am getti g it.
I have a weird fear of floor lamps and things thst are new in the house.  They are patient though and I am getting less fearful. I love the snow.  I love the goats and they like to play with me! Mom only lets us play when she is out with us. I love my daddy, and love to "talk" to him when be is watching tv. LOL. Mom thinks I am funny.  Brother and I love to lick the whole family and we love when they lay on the floor with us.
Mom says I am very smart and will get over my fears in time.

Update June 2014:

Me and Brother got these big new orthopedic beds  but we like to share 1. We r eating  big bones here that mom  busted out to distract us from a thunderstorm last week. Cam had a Thunder shirt.  Mine came in the mail today. I wouldn't let mom put it on me yet,  but I will let Janie. She is our 2 - legged 13 yr old human sis.i will.do anything for her!
Mom and Dad took me to the vet about a month ago and I got a heartworm test, a Lyme's vaccine and sometbing else I cant remember.  When I went back for boosters two weeks later,  I saw Dr Morgan. She sd I should have a little.job because if i am busy and good tired I wont feel the need to be so anxious sometimes. So mom got me a small doggie backpack and I carry a water bottle in each side. I like to work. They take me ona 2 mile walk twice a day with  Brother too. Pretty soon my manners will be good enough that I can run  with Janie. She is a field hockey goalie and has to run everyday. That's all for now, Miss Ginny. Love, Ty Bolling

Update October 2013:

Hi Ginny,
I wanted to reach out and let you know how well Sarge is doing. He's become such a wonderful addition to our family. The kids love him and he is so tolerant of all that our toddler puts him through; they've become partners in crime. I'm not sure who likes chasing who, more.

Hes so happy to be a "house dog". He's made himself quite comfortable in most everyone's bed and on most of the couches. He has slipped out of his collar twice (while trying to put him in his outside kennel) and instead of running off, he runs to the door to go inside. His daily fetch games and walks through town seem to be enough to tire him out. He's the best sleeper we've ever seen; we joke that we think he has mono :) He's filled out well, putting on a few pounds now that he's getting regular meals twice a day. And due to the fish oil we've been putting in his food his coat is getting softer and the sap spots are completely gone.
If we had to have one complaint it would be that he CANNOT get enough love.

He has to be everywhere that we are, usually not more than a few inches away. He follows me everywhere, always very curious as to what I'm doing. It may sound weird but it's almost like he's grateful to have a home.
I've attached a few pictures so you can see how well he's doing. We couldn't be more grateful for you and Paws for Life. Not only did we find the most amazing dog, he's one of the family and it feels like he always has been.

Thank you again,
Kelly, Bo & The Kids

Update December 2013:

Hi Ginny,
We've found a new simple pleasure for our boy Sarge: Snow. Combine that with a ball for retrieving and he's in heaven.

If you can see, on the snow picture, the small patch of hair on his tail, that's lighter than the rest of his coat; that's what is left of the coat he had when we got him from Paws. Years of neglect and sun damage left his coat dry, brittle and bleached, but now with good diet and maintenance, his coat is absolutely beautiful. He the richest chocolate brown and so unbelievably soft.
I would send you pictures of him snuggling with the kids but there are far too many to send. He's a wonderful addition to our family and is extremely excited for Christmas (we're pretty sure this is the first he's celebrated with a family).

Sarge is always eager to please and is constantly in search of love and attention. We give him plenty but it's almost as though he can't get enough love and petting so we were thinking of making him a therapy dog or an elderly companion for visits to nursing facilities. Do you have any suggestions for organizations? Or advice? His face and personality light up any room....we would love to donate his energy to people who may need a little pick-me-up :) Thanks again, The Hamm Family

Update February 2014:

These photos show the epitome of what we were looking for in a dog. When these two boys aren't running and "bouncing" off of one another, you can find them close, sharing everyday moments. Sarge is so tolerant of our youngest (a boy in his 2's) and our girls, who love to walk him, and dress him in the occasional Justin Bieber t-shirt :) He's more gentle than we could have ever wished or hoped for. You sure know how to pick 'em....we'll be getting out next family member from Paws For Life.

Update September 2014:

Sarge photo bombed a recent charter trip on the boat. Such a happy boy.

Ashton was adopted!

Update September 2013:

Hi Ginny,

Just wanted to let you know that Ashton is adjusting very well. He is loving going for his walks twice a day, playing ball with Jake and his friends and us and snuggling with all of us. Sable is adjusting to him and will now go in the backyard without us as long as Ashton is with her. Here are a few photos from his first week. Dawn, Joe and Jake Gies

Update October 2013:

I've posted on Facebook about Gracie, but I thought I'd send a "success" story too. Gracie has been with us for a week and a half, and she is just so sweet. Everyone in our close knit neighborhood thinks she's great, and she is friendly to everyone she meets, even a rambunctious five year old up the street who is a tail puller/eye poker (not that I let the little girl do those things, but still, Gracie was exceptionally patient).

As I mentioned on FB, she's a bit of a food thief. She managed to get hold of an unopened can of salmon cat food, chewing it apart to get at the food. Now the people (my husband) just have to learn not to leave foodstuffs where she can reach them (like the half stick of butter she got this morning after my husband made toast :-) )

I'll keep you updated as we get to know Gracie better. She is a wonderful companion and we're very happy she has joined our family.

Best regards, and good luck to all the other dogs and cats waiting for homes.

Jackson was adopted!

Update September 2013:

I'm sorry I have taken so long to update about Jackson.  He is fantastic!  I absolutely love him. He is just the coolest dog.  I think I am going to name him Roscoe.  He looks like a Roscoe.  He loves my living room chair and can be found there really at any time.  He has been very polite about everything.  He doesn't really touch anything which is odd for me because I genuinely expected to lose some things when I got a dog.  He doesn't love walks.  He would prefer being in the air conditioning and lounging. I introduced him to my mom's rescues from Paws for Life (Zeba and Drake)  and everything worked out wonderfully.  It was like he was in a pack of dogs which I think he is used to.  I plan on giving him lots of one on one attention now.  This little boy has found his forever home.  Thank you for rescuing him.  I will keep in touch and send more pictures!

Update November 2013:

Hi Ginny,
I know it hasn't been that long since I updated you on Jackson - now Roscoe but I had to share these pictures with you.  The first is Roscoe at the dog park for the first time.  He truly loves other dogs and being around people.  The next pictures are of Roscoe while we were handing out candy over Halloween.  As you can see I dressed him up like superman!  I was really excited about it and Rozzy didn't seem to mind or even care at all.  I'm so happy to hear that Hank got adopted and that you went back in and got their sister too!  She will make someone just as happy as Roscoe makes me.

Nick was adopted!

Update August 2013:

Nick and Wheatie are home to stay!

I guess that was obvious – we have been having fun getting to know each other and they are really settling in now!  Every day some new trait revels itself – some fun, some not, but we have been able to handle everything  (knock on wood).  Nick is great and is a joy to take out on walks – still loves hunting his birds in the yard or on the walk.   He is quite relaxed in the house and enjoys the cool tile and laying directly on air conditioning vents.  He is puzzled by some training tasks and others are a complete no brainer for him.  With the cooling weather I look forward to jogs on the trail with him!  Wheatie is the challenge that is Wheatie – I do think he will always be the one to be ‘managed’ but seriously that dog is full of personality and is so athletic and smart.  He picks up on every training task so quickly – I am eager to get him into classes and do something with all that potential.

Thanks so much for taking care of them for so long!  And I guess “Adoption Pending”  is now officially “Adopted”...

Update October 2013:

Hey there!
I'm Jewel, a member of the Dye Family. I thought that I would shoot you a quick update on Siena, whom we adopted in August. We have since renamed her Loli (like lollipop).

Loli has adjusted very well to her new home! She's gotten over her fear of car rides and going up or down stairs. She continues to be great with other dogs.
I've attached pictures; some were take the first few days that we had Loli while others are more recent.

Thanks for helping us give Loli her forever home!

Update October 2013:

Dear Paws for Life,

We brought Lupa (Windy) home in August and she is a wonderful dog.  On the very first night she slept with my girls and bonded with them immediately.  She is completely housebroken,  chews only her toys  and is very affectionate.  I was somewhat worried how Otto our cat and Lupa would encounter each other,  they were best friends from the start and today often sleep together.  Lupa displayed some seperation anxiety at first with continuous barking if we left the house, but today I tell her to go lie down and she is quiet unless she hears someone approach the house.  We love to take long walks and play in our yard with her.  My girls love Lupa and softly stroke and sing to her while she lays sprawled out on the bed. My family is very grateful to Paws for Life for allowing Lupa to rescue us from our dog-less life.

Update September 2014:

We celebrated Lupa’s birthday on Spetember 1st, she has been with us for a year. We love her and she is a wonderful member of our family.  Thank You for the wonderful rescue.

Update September 2015:

Hi Ginny,

We adopted Lupa on Labor Day weekend 2013.  She is very loved and my girls (12 &11) love her to no end.  She is very healthy and well adjusted. Here are a couple recent pics of her (her muzzle is beginning to grey).  She enjoyed her birthday bone on September 1st.
