Chase was adopted!

Update July 2009:

Hi Ginny,
As you probably know, we met Eric this morning and adopted Chase. We absolutely love him and he has been really good around the house and spending time close to us. Attached is a picture of him on the back deck of our home in Bear, Delaware with our 13 year old golden female Missy.
Eric gave us all his records and we are following up with one of the Veterinarians who was treating him. Chase is such a great dog we want to make sure he receives the best care we can give him. Thanks again for saving him for me.

Update July 2009:

Chase is settling right in. I just noticed that Claire has marked the basket for Chase's toys. As for this ball, Chase loves it and we owe granddaughter Abby a new one.

Update July 2009:

I could hardly believe my eyes when I discovered where our new dog Chase decided to take an afternoon nap. Yep, that's him on top of the patio table on our deck. I have no idea why or how he got up there. I can hear Claire now saying "He's YOUR dog Charlie Brown!"  What's next Chase? What's next?

Update August 2012:

Hi Ginny,
Here's just another example of the "success" we've had with our golden retriever Chase. We adopted Chase from PFL in July, 2009. About a year ago he became a certified therapy dog through Paws for People. Attached is a picture of Chase on the cover of a soon to be issued SpecialKids magazine.

Irwin was adopted!

Update December 2010:

What a great dog "proper and personality". Loves to play soccer. Kids are his favorite people.

Dawkins was adopted!

Peanut was adopted!

Update July 2009:

Hi, Ginny,
Peanut, who has been named by our kids as Sally, is doing so well.
Such a kind, affectionate, and mild-mannered pup, she is adjusting well to her new digs.  The kids love her and Susie, our lab had taken to her quite well.  Thank you so much for making an incredible impact on our family!  We hit the doggie lottery!

Sheila was adopted!

Update June 2009:

Hi Ginny,

We wanted to give you a quick update on Sheila! Wow! She is such an affectionate dog! We are amazed at how quickly she has adjusted to us & our home and it's only day 2! We took your advice and haven't crated her and she's been doing great. We almost have her submissive wetting under control - she does it when we go to put a leash on her, so we're having her stand up when we put her leash on and this seems to help. Also, we are asking people to not approach her, but to let her come to them & she doesn't wet.

We've attached a picture of Sheila with the toy she picked out at when we went shopping:)

She has been wonderful!  Thank you so much! We'll stay in touch.

Update November 2009:

We just wanted you to know that Sheila has settled in (taken over?) beautifully in our lives. She makes us laugh everyday! I've attached a picture from our Outer Banks vacation. Sheila's not much of a water dog, but she loved chasing all the birds! She was so easy to travel with - she just goes with the flow:) We are so grateful to you and your organization.  Keep up the fantastic work!

Update June 2013:

She even looks regal doesn't she? Ha! Thanks again and again for all that you do!

Ladybug was adopted!

Update June 2009:

Hi Ginny!

I just wanted to drop a line and let you know that Casey’s (formerly Ladybug) first weekend at home was a great success.  She really has come out of her shell…I wouldn’t say that she is at all shy or timid any longer!  Attached are a few pictures of her first few days.  I will be sure to keep you posted on how things go.  Today is the first big test…with us going to work all day…so fingers crossed!  We did a few tests over the weekend leaving for a couple hours and here and there and she seemed to be fine.  :o)

Thanks again!

Update June 2009:

We just wanted to thank you for introducing us to such a great dog!!  She is an absolute ANGEL!!  She is just fine during the day when we are at work.  I leave Animal Planet or the National Geographic Channel on for her to watch and always find her toys in my bed when I come home…I assume she lays around, plays with her toys and watches tv all day!  Yesterday we went to the park and she met two other labs and played ball and swam, loving every second.  She has adjusted just fine to her new home.  She is perfectly housebroken, well mannered and just a joy to have as part of our family.  What a difference a week has made!  She even jumps right up into my SUV now without any hesitation…I guess she figured out car rides lead to fun playdates in the park!!  Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for these great dogs!!

Take care,
Michelle and Mike

Update July 2009:

Hi Ginny!

I wanted to send you a couple pictures of Nathan and Casey (formerly Ladybug) hanging out on the deck after a long day of romping in the yard together…they are great friends!  Mike and I adopted Casey (aka Ladybug) and Joell adopted Nathan on 6/11/09 and we got them together this past weekend for some doggie fun!  Both dogs are doing great and are excellent additions to our families!!

Thanks again!

Update November 2009:

Hi Ginny!

Well, it’s been almost 6 months since we brought Casey into our house and she is just the perfect addition!  I’ve attached a few pictures of her playing with her friends at the park, we usually meet at least a couple times a week.  She loves to run and swim and her favorite past time is to play chase with the other dogs.  She is such a good girl.  She is one very spoiled lab (as they all should be) and has found great happiness in her fur-ever home with us.  I love when I get home from work and she’s standing tall at the back door to greet me.  There’s nothing better than a happy dog smile after a long day of work!  Thanks again for all you do for these pups!!

Take care,

Michelle and Mike

Update December 2009:

Casey wanted to wish everyone at Paws for Life a HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!  She had a great time in the snow this past weekend, I think it might be the first time she's seen snow (at least she acted that way!)

Thanks again for all you do for these fabulous pups!!
Have a very happy holiday!

Michelle, Mike and Casey

Update May 2010:

Hi Ginny,

It’s been about a year since we brought Casey home…wow, what a difference a year can make.  The once shy and timid dog that didn’t know what a toy or a treat was is just the happiest of happy black labs!!  She makes me smile a million times a day!!  The day we adopted her she didn’t know how to walk up steps, get into a car, walk thru doorways, etc. – she is now LOVING LIFE!  Thank you again for what you do for these animals!!  Someone once told me that a shelter dog will give you so much love for the second chance you gave to them…they were so right!!  Casey is my love bug and my best pal and it’s all thanks to you!!

Attached are some pictures from one of the big snow storms we had this winter and a more recent one taken at 4AM when she woke me up to play ball…how could I say no to that face!’

Thanks again!

Michelle and Mike

Update October 2010:

Happy Halloween to all my friends at Paws for Life!!  Love, Casey (formerly Ladybug, adopted June 11, 2009)

Update December 2010:

Merry Christmas to all my friends at Paws for Life

Casey Jones (formerly Ladybug, adopted 6/2009)

Update April 2012:

Hi Ginny,

Just wanted to send an updated picture of Casey (formerly Ladybug).  She is my best friend and I can’t imagine life without her in it!  She spends her days with my mom’s Rottie mix, romping in the yard and laying in the sun – and swimming in the pool when it’s open.  She’s my angel!!

Nathan was adopted!

Update June 2009:

Nathan is doing well.  He is so mello.  We decided to keep the name Nathan.  He's so sweet it suits him.

I'll try to update you with pictures soon.

Take Care,

Update January 2010:

Hi Ginny,
I wanted to give you an update on Nathan.  As you can see in the picture, he loves the snow.  He's the funniest 'Lab Mix' I've ever seen. He can't retrieve to save his life and he is terrified of the water. That's better for me, no wet dog smell all the time!  He loves to run around the yard with the boys, go on long walks, hikes in the woods and love to be in the car.  Nathan is the perfect dog of us.  He is so laid back and listens pretty well.  He goes to school with me to pick up the boys.  He loves to meet all the kids but gets especially excited when he sees his boys.  He has definitely found his forever home!!! Thank you so much for all your hard work in finding the perfect forever homes for so many animals.
Thank you!

Tyra was adopted!

Reggie was adopted!

June 2009:

It's been several weeks and I wanted to report in on how Reggie is fitting in to our family.  In short, he's doing great, and we couldn't be more thrilled!  By the third day or so, Reggie and Caroline (the Corgi pup) had become fast friends, and now the mid-morning hours seem to be "play-time" at our household.  You can tell that Reggie came from a fine home before us as he seems to know basic commands, crates up nicely when we go out and at night, and is an overall joy to be around.  We went away for a few days last weekend, and the woman that owned the kennel where our previous JRT boarded (for 10 years) was astounded at what a nice dog we were able to adopt to complement Caroline.  We'll have to get a good picture of Caroline and Reggie playing, but here is one showing his new favorite place--sleeping on the back of Georgia's chair.  We're so glad we saw him on your site and are privileged to be able to give him a home.  I hope his previous owners will see this update and know that Reggie has "landed on his feet" and will be well-loved for years to come.

Richard and Georgia

Update July 2009:

Hi Ginny,
I just wanted to share a couple more pictures of Reggie. He's settled in so well to the household and as you can tell, Caroline the corgi, also adores her big brother.

  Take care,
Georgia and Richard
